Engineering Admissions to Begin in May
The Tamil Nadu engineering admission process for the 2026-2027 academic year will start in the third week of May. This follows the expected announcement of Class 12 board exam results on May 8, after the state election results are declared.
Seats and Colleges
There are about two lakh engineering seats available across more than 400 colleges affiliated with Anna University in Tamil Nadu. These seats will be filled through an online counselling system managed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) under a single-window process.
Admission Process Timeline
A senior official from the Higher Education Department shared that last year, over three lakh students from Tamil Nadu and other states took part in the counselling. This year, the merit list will be published in June, and the online counselling will begin in July.
Increase in Applications and New Courses
The official also mentioned that the exact admission dates will be announced after the election results. This year, applications are expected to rise because many colleges under Anna University have increased seats in popular courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Data Science, and Robotics.
