According to the China Manned Space Agency, both selected Pakistani candidates will undergo specialized astronaut training in China. After completing various courses and assessments, one astronaut will be selected as a payload specialist for a crewed mission to the Tiangong space station.

The selection process is based on a bilateral agreement signed in February 2025 between China’s Manned Space Agency and Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). The agreement covers astronaut training, scientific experiments, and broader space cooperation.

China has also expressed openness to allowing other countries to participate in its space programmes, including scientific research and testing aboard Tiangong.
